Visit and talk by Prof. Manish Pande at POSTECH South Korea for research collaboration

Prof. Manish Pande visited Clean Steel Laboratory (CSL), Graduate Institute of Ferrous and Eco-materials Technology (GIFT), Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, South Korea from 8th to 12th December 2024. The visit was supported and funded by SCPP-IOE, IIT Bombay. This visit was done to meet Prof. Youn-Bae Kang, an expert in thermodynamics of steelmaking reactions, for the discussion and to explore the possibility of a joint research project for effective control of steel cleanness in critical steel grades. The discussion was also aimed at bringing an improved understanding about the steel cleanness with combined efforts of academic and industry researchers.

For this, a special seminar was also organized at the GIFT, POSTECH, South Korea. In this seminar, Prof. Manish Pande has given a presentation titled "Development of an optical emission spectroscopy - pulse discrimination analysis (QES-PDA) technique to measure in-process cleanness of critical steel grades.
